WHITHER LIES THE SUPERBOXER: MAYWEATHER OR PACQUIAO?Untitled

The long awaited battle between many Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather slated for the 2nd of may 2015 keep my heart pumping as my anxiety towards this day seems unexplainable. The two are great boxers, one from the Phillipines and the other an American both are heroes in their carrier.

Floyd Mayweather had 47 wins with zero loss. He is 38 yrs old. He started learning boxing at a very young age. In fact, not long that he started walking that he was inaugurated into the boxing ring.

His first boxing glove was given to him by his father at the age of seven.This just shows that Floyd knows nothing but boxing from his childhood. His boxing strength is that he is much quicker and more elegant on his feet than many boxers. Mostly viewed as a defensive fighter. His punches are not wasted as he always makes his punches count. In his last fight, he threw 425 punches to Maidanas 858. He is very fluid and seems perfect in the ring. His boxing style is not so conventional as he always sticks to his game plan and not that of the opposition. Though aggressiveness and toughness matters, yet you can’t compare to his smartness and strategy which he always use in the ring.

Manny on the other hand is 36 years of age a Filipino world champion who became a professional boxer at the age of 32. When in the ring, he is very fast and strong most especially at 150 pounds. At 148 pounds ,he fought Antonio Morgarito for a super welterweight where many restructures Megarito’s face with permanent facial damage. Comparing their ability for the upcoming fight, Mayweather’s combination of size, strength and speed will present a difficult challenge for the smaller Pacquiao.

On the theoretical or analytical point of view, it seems to me that Floyd Mayweather will have an easy run in this upcoming battle over Pacquiao most importantly, when you compare the early exposure of Floyd in the ring coupled with the developed family boxing style over the years. However the defensive style of Floyd which indeed made him one of the greatest, may after all be the reason for his downfall even though over the years he has been successful so far.

Finally, though Manny is characterized with stamina, courage and doggedness which may be his life saving attributes if used well to his advantage against Mayweather. Whether David will beat Goliath or Goliath beat David I can’t wait to see the oucome.
