NIGERIA VS MEXICO MATCH- FOUR LESSONS LEARNT

The Nigeria golden eaglets in Chile put up a five star performance in their semi final encounter against Mexico. The Mexicans were determined and resilient in the match, but met a more determined and hungry Eaglet in the encounter.

In the match played earlier today, four lessons were learnt.

1) Nigeria has what it takes to compete with the world and dominate it if possible. Nigeria have been in the final of this competition more than five times at the world stage simply shows how talented and great we are as a country.

2) It shows that there is a need for improvement, especially the way we conceded the second goal scored by the Mexican who penetrated the eaglets defence with ease. These may be due to lack of concentration on the side of the eaglets at the time, yet it is important for the coaching crew to discuss with the players on how to be focused on matches especially the upcoming final match that will be played on Sunday against Mali.

3) The victory of the eaglets over the Mexican under 17 in Chile has given the African continent an opportunity to showcase their football at the world stage once again. This opportunity once came in 1993 between Nigeria and Ghana, where Nigeria defeated the Ghananians 2-1 with a very strong a competitive final. However, it will be between two West African countries again as I hope my country Nigeria will be victorious.

4) It indeed shows that the African countries are developing in football, especially in the age grade system. It has indeed a given a ray of hope that African will one day win the world cup. The promise of winning the world cup at the senior level

Was shown by Ghana who won the under 20 world cup in 2009 against the almighty Brazil via the penalty shoot out.
