DEEP WTHIN US
Deep within us,
The truth, we know,
But, do we say it,
To free our conscience?
Deep within us,
We know what is wrong,
We discern what is right,
To what extent is its value?
Deep within us,
Our hatred for one another grows,
Eating up the white knight in us
As we succumb to hatred.
A lesson for all.
We become monsters within,
Yet, with an outward white and unblemished garment,
A bright shining face,
And a dead conscience to match.
Deep within us… so deep it is;
Only God can remove,
The wheat from the shaft,
And save us from the evil ones,
For it is so deep within us.
