SAUDI TO SEND TROOPS TO SYRIA TO FiGHT ISIL: A BOLD MOVE FROM THE HOLY LAND.

Knowing the intention of Saudi Arabia to send ground troops to Syria to fight ISIL is indeed a great sign that Riyadh desire peace in the Middle East. The peace talks, which the international community brought to the table to negotiate between the Syria rebels, the regime and all those concerned, have failed woefully most especially on the part of the regime attacking the rebels' position when there was supposed to be a cease fire. It seems the regime believes attacking the rebels’ position will make them negotiate on the part of strength or will make negotiation unnecessary as the battle would have been won already. However, with the introduction of ground troops entering Syria to fight ISIL will be a factor that can make the battle shift to the side of the rebels.

The intervention of Russia in the Syria crisis seems acceptable with the excuse of bombing ISIL however, there are claims which suggested otherwise that Russia has been busy bombing the rebel location thereby decimating them in numbers to favour the regime. Will it be bad if Saudi uses the same claim to support the rebels and at the same time fight ISIL? Moving the ground troops into Syria from Saudi will indeed be a great development of what is expected in a failed state like Syria.

In the book of CHINUA ACHEBE titled the Arrow of God the author uses an Knowing the intention of Saudi Arabia to send ground troops to Syria to fight ISIL is indeed a great sign that Riyadh desire peace in the Middle East. African Proverb which says “a man who put maggots in his house should not be surprised when visited by a lizard.” This in other words means that with the state of Syria not being able to protect his citizens but rather killing and attacking them should not be surprised when visited by the ground troops of Saudi Arabia. I am indeed optimistic that once the ground troops are able to enter Syria the likelihood of Riyadh supporters in the international community doing the same will not be far fetched.

Lizards must be in Syria before a reasonable negotiation can begin. The rebels must be on the part of strength for a meaningful negotiation. The crisis in Syria has affected Europe through its refugees and as such for Syria to still be claiming sovereignty is nothing but a Joke. The bold step by Riyadh will definitely tilt the balance in favour of the rebel to negotiate at Geneva.

Entering Syria by the ground troops will definitely make the regime jittery no matter the strong stance they make on media. Though Syria is already a failed state yet Barshir Al- Assad authority has never been threatened. However, with the bold step of Riyadh putting ground troops into Syria will be a great challenge to the regime of Bashir Al – Assad.

It is important to state however, that the white Knight in the middle East is the Riyadh and for peace to reign in the middle east lies in the hand of the middle East not U.S not Russia.
